From my experience with Eco Marche, I felt deliberately cheated and the super market staff did not seem keen to help. Eco Marche supermarket does have a number of good quality things, is clean and well organized. However, during my first shopping experience in this super market (being based in Buea and shopping in Douala every now and then), I was very disappointed. Among the things I bought was about 600g of dried stock fish which was weighed at the respective section and costed at about 19,000 FCFA before sent to the counter for payment (with a little receipt paper). In my rush to leave Douala and return to Buea, I did not pay much attention to my receipt, trusting the shop. Upon arrival home, I realized that the amount registered for this particular item (stock fish) was double the price as the quantity registered was double the quantity. What I found annoying was that the item was not passed twice in their cash system, which could have been considered as an error. It was only passed once, which indicates that the person registering the item passed it once and put in the wrong value for the item (which already had a receipt from the same shop). I unfortunately could not find the specific receipt which was put on the item when it was weighed. When I reported to the shop, they referred to the same cash machine as a solution (which is where the fault came from). and refused to rectify this problem from the source. As a result, I lost 19,000 FCFA to the shop, as well as air time, time and patience following this up with the shop on a subsequent visit to Douala, a couple of days after shopping there. I was very disappointed and had the feeling it was something they did deliberately. I will therefore call on others shopping there to be very vigilant with their receipts. Personally, I was very disappointed with the shop and the services and prefer to shop in other, less dishonest shops in Douala (e.g. Mahima, Arno, Orca, etc.). I hope the entirety of my review will be posted for others to see and decide on their future links with this super market. Thanks for this opportunity to rate my experience at this super market.
